Citroen 2CV engine converted for aircraft use Direct drive. Custom Exhausts-silencers, crank breather (reinflard), inlet manifold. 30mm throttlebore Solex carb. Too big a prop for this trial,1.32mts got only 2250rpm. Must reach at least 4000rpm to get some usable hp...1.10mtr prop. Probably end on a flexwing single place trike with big wing, as a pusher.Will get electronic 123 ignition and must make a small 12v generator to charge the battery for the ingition. It has modest thrust in direct drive mode, but we will see...

  • The stand is regular engine assembly stand, just that...I had it pulling on that prop but i was planning to use it as a pusher which i would not try in this stand because any slip or issue and the engine with prop spinning would run over me...

  • Some 25hp at 4000rpm plus minus...Here it produced some 40-45 kgs of thrust at 2250 rpm.

  • No ball bearing...just the original thick washer...The french manual stated it like that...Once I believed a ball or conical bearing was a must but on the VW, Lycomings or continentals there is NO ball bearing, just a specifically designed plain bearing for thrust loads. Need to be in reach of the oil splash or what comes out of the journal, some thinking might be needed, but It works quite well, still the play should be checked as a precausion periodically...

  • Sorry tony could not sort the adress. I am member of the top80 paramotor group, Half vw group, Nanotrike group, maybe you can reach me there...

    Regards,

    Alan.

  • If you give me a email adress I can give you more details and also send you the manual with all the drawings, which I believe I still have. I havent used it yet and probably will go on a single place flexwing trike...I am still finding out things, some surprize me, related of what it is capable of achieving. Here there is not enough space to even start debating or placing enough info. Regards, Alan.

  • The flinching face is because at more or less 1/2 throttle the engine could not increase its rpm any more do to the over propped and past that, fuel sputtered out of the carb and went onto my eyes and face!

  • This engine give 29hp DIN at 5750rpm and is not good for direct drive: the power and trust are 40% better with a reduction drive and a bigger propeller.

    The Visa engine (same but 652cc , 34hp DIN, aluminium nikasil cylinder and electronic ignition) is (for example) use with belt gear reductor on the motor glider EEL2 and work perfect

  • What is the engine mounted on? it looks like some sort of custom stand. I just want to test my engine.

  • How many hp it produces;

  • What ball bearing did you use (and how) to catch up the axial forces coming from the propellor? Or didn't you use one at all?

    Hi Alan, Try this as I believe that it doesn't like the AT or dots etc. No spaces
