  • Good Karate, but shame about the camera angle!

Kururunfa is like a bonsai- there is a side from which it is best viewed.

Kata wise, top notch, it's all there and i like this version a lot as far as stylisation goes. Simplistic and minimalist yet effective in timing and kime!

  • i didn't want to sit in front and ruin her concentration. i wasn't really supposed to be filming anyway, i kind of snuck it in.

  • @Colemandina You are 100 % right bro. But so many people doesn't know the reality. They'll learn...

  • Great performance ;-)

  • Excellent performance , great angle of camera. Thank You !

  • With my skills I tried to encorporate many arts into one and I had a helluva time doing it, but I mixed together Capoiera and goju ryu and have some decent combos that I've strung together along with a little wushu and kung fu forms that I liked (leopard, drunken boxing, haven't quite gotten around to monkey or wolf yet but am trying to encorporate those as well.) So far its turned out nicely! But I only have 5 years or so of training in the arts.

  • Its done ...... check your email.

  • No problem. You threw the gauntlet; I had to pick it up! ;-)

No hard feelings! (you will have to remind me by pm who I am talking to; the internet handles get confusing!)

  • Thanks Bryson for your expedient reply. We have emailed each other before! I began boxing in '67 and Judo, began karate in '73 and Goju in '74 till now. Trained with many styles on seminars ans spent MANY hours "visiting" regularly other clubs to spar. Did 20 years with Morio Higaonna's group and then after a while joined JKF Goju Kai, which allows access to many different senseis from both Okinawa and mainland Japan. Still enjoying training. I still spar with my black belts.

  • That's more than fair, It's a good thing you did! Thanks for sharing it with us!

  • Thanks Bryson. The JKF Goju Kai is very different to the Yamaguchi Goju Kai, with which some people confuse them. Is that 41 years of Goju? Mind you, 41 years of anything is pretty awesome. Done a FEW years myself.

  • PS my karate background is: started in Kyokushin in '68, moving to a Yamaguchi Goju-kai based school in '72, on to an Okinawan school of the Higa lineage in '90, a few years as the technical advisor to the Indonesian Okinawan Gojuryu Association, and, most recently, training at the Jundokan in Okinawa. 41 years of training all up. What's YOUR background, champ...?
