Yeah, it was just a nitrous backfire, that was his intake tube from that side and his glove.
Didn't lose a hand, damn sure wasn't a piston.
This video has started more internet rumor than the fake moon landing hahahahaha.

That is a pro-mod bike, it does not use NITRO. It uses pump gas and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and that was probably just a nitrous burp, happens all the time. It looked painful though! When NITROMETHANE goes bang it is a lot more serious, that is why we wear ballistic vests to stop the exploding cylinders from smashing our hearts from our rib cage. All good clean fun!!!

if you look carfully its just the glove the inlet duct exploded when the nitrous backfires his hand is hit with the outer shell of the carbon duct
