I just heard about Lightworks and after watching some of these videos I must say, I am far from sold on their concept of film editing. It all feels so... overtly complex... And I've been editing on Premiere and FCP for a decade now. Like. Why would I want a transient bin?! Why is searching the only way to call up a closed bin? Is there no way to dock windows to create some sort of coherent GUI? All sense of intuitiveness just flew out the window. Not your fault. You are just trying to teach it.

In film editing, you physically cut the film into clips,. Those clips are stored in bins (bags hanging off the table) awaiting the edit (cut into a sequence) Avid used clips and bins and sequences as well,. You can think of the rack as the various edit tables with bins hanging off them.

bins and racks, eh? junk in bins in racks in racks.... I think it would have been far more intuitive to call them "groups", and allow groups to contain stuff and other groups. Or possibly better, "folders", a concept everyone is familiar with.
I also don't understand the rational for disallowing bins/racks to be browsed. What if you've got a lot of the things and can't remember the name of one? Search is kinda useless then, isn't it?
But obviously not your fault. Thanks for the tutorials. =)

Dude, I'm just starting up with Lightworks and watching all your video's about it, to learn as much as possible. So thanx for the vids. It works a lot better than a manual. Okay, sometimes you're quite chaotic, but seeing you doing it teaches me a lot. But maybe it would be handy if you would try the features up front, instead of while you're making your tutorial, like the transitions :-)
