Incredibly High Jump 1985

Tom Smith, a senior at Heyworth (near Bloomington), high jumped 7'-4.25" at the Normal Relays in 1985. I am pretty sure he was the only kid from Heyworth (pop. 10? 11?) to jump that high that year. Little known fact, Jeff McMorrow's U of I roommate was from Heyworth and Tom Smith's close friend. Small world. I tried to find out more about Tom Smith nowadays, but when I googled his name there were 1 billion sites referenced.

I actually knew Tom. He grew up down the street from my family and his older brother was in my class. I kept replaying the clip to see if I recognized the meet location. 1985...that may have been his Sr. year in HS?

My dad use to drive me to Heyworth when i was like in 7th grade to watch him play basketball and I use to watch him high jump all the time as i was a state champ in track as well. amazing amazing athlete. Anybody know what happened to him?
