The absolute best aquarium carbon filter media is the Tri Base Pelletized Aquarium Carbon. It has the ability to last up to 5 years when properly maintained, so that means once a month, take it out of your filter and rinse it off. This activated carbon reduces unwanted contaminates and reduces deadly pollutants from aquarium water. High capacity allows for smaller amounts to be used, especially if filter size is limited. Has a high surface are which makes it last longer, more cost effective than other carbons. The available carbon source allows for aerobic reduction of nitrates phosphates and potash from your aquarium. The tri base carbon must be soaked 3 days before use. Then add only 1/2 pound per day. So in this video i took the carbon and put it in a container and filled it with water. Now i am letting it soak for 3 days and before i use it in my aquarium filter, i will rinse it off very very well to remove any fine dust particles.

  • perhaps you dont know this but when you rince your carbon with tap water you are actually gathering the clorimine from the tap water ,which in its own is harmful when it released at thresholds by organics,,, dechlorinate the soak water as well
