Jeff Waynes Musical Version of the War of the Worlds ist ein Konzeptalbum aus dem Jahre 1978 des US-amerikanischen Musikers Jeff Wayne, in dem die Geschichte von H.G. Wells „Der Krieg der Welten erzählt wird.
Das Album erwies sich mit weltweit mehr als 13 Millionen verkauften Einheiten als kommerzieller Erfolg. Es kam in 22 Ländern in die „Top 10 der Hitparade und erreichte in elf davon den ersten Platz. In der britischen Hitparade war es 300 Wochen in der Albumhitparade. Das Album wurde mehrfach mit Gold und Platin ausgezeichnet. In Großbritannien erhielt es zwei „Ivor Novello Awards und in den USA wurde es 1980 als The Best Recording In Science Fiction And Fantasy ausgezeichnet.

H. G. Wells "war of the worlds" was always one of my favourite stories. The version of Jeff Wayne is the best I´ve ever heard. I´ve spent so many nights listening to it!
It´s unparalelled.

This disc is incredible. It has about 30 years now... it does not matter. It is timeless, like Mozart, Vivaldi or the Beatles.

This is absolute genius - fantastic music, brilliantly narrated by the wonderful Richard Burton. I bought it on cassettes way back when it was new, but now they don't sound so good, so I must get hold of it on CDs!
