9. Christian Doctrine - Resurrection: God Saves

Lecture by Mark Driscoll. "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live . . ." (John 11:25) The validity of our faith and the legitimacy of our hope are dependant on the reality of the resurrection of Jesus. Paul states, "if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins." Simply put, if Christ did not rise, we are still condemned.

Why is the historical validity of the resurrection so important?

What is the significance of Paul's confirmation of the resurrection?
How does the resurrection testify to the validity of Jesus' claims to be the Son of God? (Rom 1:4)

Implications: How does our understanding of the resurrection of Jesus affect our daily lives?

What does it mean to be born again into hope through the resurrection of Christ? (1 Pet 3)
How is spiritual rebirth pictured in the resurrection?
Read John 20, how are the reactions of Mary Magdalene and Thomas to the resurrection different?
Which do you relation to more and why?
What does it mean to you practically to be united with Christ in His resurrection. (Rom 6:5)

Prayer: Take time to Reflect and meditate on the death of Christ.

Thank God for the power of His resurrection
Thank God for what he accomplished on the cross.
Pray for unity with Christ in His resurrection.
Pray for the lost that they might know the power of the resurrection.
