Leland Hardy, the Founder and Original Registrant of www.NEWYORK.com is shown in a pen literally surrounded by hundreds of cows, bulls, and calves as he participates in the annual cattle branding event with his Oglala Sioux brethren on the Pine Ridge reservation in Pine Ridge, SD.
In this short video hardy is helping to separate cows from bulls, from calves in advance of driving the to separate corrals just before roping, dragging, wrestling, pinning, branding, innoculating, and tagging the beasts. The Oglala Sioux Members practice their time honored craft of roping cattle the old fashioned way - tossing ropes on horseback. This activity is all a part of the Tribe's annual cattle branding event and is a practice that is passed on from generation to generation. The Oglala Sioux are some of the most skillful horsemen and best ranchers in the world.
