Stephen Wiltshire has been called the "Human Camera." In this short excerpt from the film Beautiful Minds: A Voyage into the Brain, Wiltshire takes a helicopter journey over Rome and then draws a panoramic view of what he saw, entirely from memory.

I'm often disturbed when people describe other people's talents or achieved levels of skill as "frightening" such as "Stephen is frighteningly right" (when describing details of his accuracy). I've seen people get hostile at times when they meet things too far beyond their preconceptions... that irrational hostility is the truly "frightening" thing.

    (imitates explosion noise)

My mind has been fully blown. I can't believe that someone could handdraw an entire cityscape, after a forty-five minute aerial view and a 6 day period.

Even more surprising is the so few but minor flaws. Seriously awesome to see such skill in the world

What I'm amazed at is he's doing this without a ruler

Yes I totally understand the point that many people are simply in a "language rut" (perfect phrase) and I do not paint all people who use such language as having a "frightened" reaction... I love drawing our attention to outdated language :-)

But the word "amazing" fits best for some of us when we react; we feel truly AMAZED... our jaw drops with happy excitement, while other people suddenly look worried and frightened. The latter mindset suggests a lapse in the homeostasis of one's rationality
