This is my third slate aquarium decoration. Each one trumps the one before it. This took me about five hours to build.

  • Can you use normal silicone?

or do you need a special one?

  • Respond to this video... as long as it is not a mildew inhibiting type of silicone, you should be okay. I use 100% RVT clear silicone available at any hardware store.

  • what did you covered it with, so that it wouldn't melt or something?

  • @ciukcia989 That's a new one! Slate and silicone are both insoluble materials and therefore will stay intact indefinitely without any protective coating.

  • Wow thank for your super say reply. Yeah I'm going to check out my local flowing/ landscaping place. How much was the slate?

  • @90kateKate I'm sorry I don't remember. Maybe something like $15 bucks per bag. Definitely less than $20.

Keep in mind though that out of all the pieces in those bags, I personally found about 9 out of 10 to be unusable. So to build something this size will pretty much deplete one bag of all useful pieces.
