Part 2 of the notorious final scene of Sergio Corbucci's spaghetti western "Il Grande Silenzio" (The Great Silence).

Starring Jean-Louis Trintignant as a mute gunfighter who assists a group of mormons and a woman from bounty hunters.

The ending in particular is well known for the deaths of the protagonists in the hands of the bounty hunters. This was a stark contrast to most westerns at that time in which the "good guys" always won. Sergio Corbucci was forced to shoot an alternate ending when many deemed the death of the hero as unacceptable.

  • Sometimes, the bad guys win...

  • from 1:39 to 1:45 i think i died for a moment

  • You see movie endings of The good bad and the ugly, Once upon a time in the west, The Searchers, etc, and u start losing some hope that you are ever gonna find something like that again. This is really a mesmerizing ending, i guess the morricone factor is a really big deal. Besides the epic ending i must say that i foung the dubbing awful, the lead actress poor, and most of the cinematography i didnt like, it reminded me a bit of Sam Peckinpah, a lot of Peckinpah really, anyone agrees??

  • @shire2005 In ten minutes you'll be smoking in Hell! On your feet! : )

  • @Noodles37UK

Kinski was a bad guy in a few dollars more. Lee Van Cleef humiliated him and later blew him away.

  • @M8DMAN Yeah but then the movie would not have been as good.

  • @morriconelover Django didn't die.

  • @Noodles37UK

Thats "Django". But Kinski is not in that one.

  • I'm really confused. I remember an Italian western where Kinski plays a bad guy, it's snowing, it's broad daylight, and the hero dies in a cemetery, his hands getting shot first....? I'm damned sure I really saw it. Someone help me out on this? Thanks.

  • Really tragic, yet effective ending.
