This is a USAWA lift and is called simply: Snatch-On Knees. It shortens the pull drastically and that takes a lot of the speed out of the lift. So it drops the poundage quite a bit from a standard snatch. Only my 2nd or 3rd time doing this but I've been told it's a good way to measure progress for a few of the other USAWA lifts that interest me. 135lbs is a good goal by spring next year. http://goalorientedtraining.wordpress.com/
Charles Poliquin says this is a great way to learn bad technique while destroying your patellas.

Good thing I'm not a real Olympic lifter anyway then. This is a lift that is contested in the USAWA. Thanks for the heads-up though.

Glad you like it! It's been done for some years by a few of the USAWA guys. And probably some of the IAWA guys as well. And I'm sure most of them are chuckling that I put up a video of a 115lb lift - since there are some that are probably past 200lbs on this lift.

Thanks guys! It's a neat lift. I'm not a naturally explosive guy - more of a slow strength type - so this is going to be a great training tool to get even faster.
