This one took me quite a while to get down. It's got alot of wierd chromatic things and odd finerings and learning this by ear was really difficult, but luckily there is a video of Jeff playing this song in full on youtube for EMG, so I referred to that as a kind of guide. Not to mention some tabs for certain parts as well :D

This recording also marks a step in the right direction for my picking technique. I pretty much changed the way I pick completely and am forcing myself to use a more "proper" technique exhibited by Paul Gilbert, Yngwie and Andy James. They are the masters of alternate picking. This has actually increased my picking speed and it feels alot more natural now.

I might post a video of how I changed my picking technique for the better, if anyone is interested in increasing their picking speed :D Oh and I recorded this through my PODXT.

Ok enjoy!

  • First of all, your username is amazing lol. And I use Bulb's POD patch. just google it,. lots of people use it for 7 strings. I know it's on 7string dot org's website. but you can find it pretty easily and adjust it a bit for your guitar.

  • good god man! how many hours do you think this took in all? couple of hundred? by the way I love the PodXt too. People talk swine about it but if you really know what you're doing it's perfect for bass, axe and even vox recording. It's not my favorite for live performance due to it's buzzy overtones, but that's what the spider valve is for! It pwnes live!!! Rock on dude you're the shit!

  • @thestonejar it took about a week, which is a long time for me. a few hours a day, so probablyyyyyyyyyy........ about 10-12 hours total to be able to play it as I did in this video. Ya I love my POD. often times gives me better tones than a real amp!

  • so you recorded with a pod? whats the pluses and minuses of owning one?

  • i dont think there are any minuses. takes a while to get the tone you want, but you can get millions of tones with it.
