This is raw test footage from a video we are currently working on. The car was just to see how heat builds. I was expecting 190F max for 1 minute, I got 294 (not show because I dropped the camera to shut down the mirrors)

7 sq ft at 30 meters.

  • You blew up the mythbusters they don't have a clue when they tried to do something like this that is what Archimedes did

  • fuck it i would have left it alone to see how long it takes the sun to burn a honda

  • 272'--------that's one hot car.

  • this only proves two things- 1 solar radiation is powerful, 2 you are a crazy mad scientist that rocks!

  • My Mum once took a mini apple pie out of the freezer a couple of years ago when we had a really hot summer here in Australia (temperatures ranging from 40 degrees Celcius to 50), to de-frost it, she put it out in the sun. It not only thawed the pie, it actually cooked it all the way through. Mum didn't even need to put in the microwave or anything XD

  • hell yeah now i can make cookies on the roof of my car great

  • Try burning a 4'x8' piece of plywood

  • Right on. I have found $7.00 wall mirrors that are 12 x 48 " deflect easily and are capable of collecting about 350 watts of energy. That is 50 watts per dollar or about $0.02 / watt for solar energy. Caution all viewers to wear safety goggles for protection from very strong UV reflections that can damage their vision.

  • @micrisc very interesting Legal question, to answer that quickly "NO because it isnʻt within the normal operating conditions of the car" but for purposes of Humor i suggest listening to this guy George Gordon dot com in this legal story about a Lawyer who sues for fire damage covered under his insurance policy for some cigars...
