Albert Russell, once decribed as a "prince of American organ playing," plays Dupre's "Preludio" on the Aeolian-Skinner organ, Opus 1456, designed by Donald Gillett, the last president and tonal director of Aeolian-Skinner, at National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC in this private recording of a live 1973 recital. This track is taken from the CD "The Aeolian-Skinner Legacy, Volume II: Albert Russell Plays Three Great Organs." (The organs on the disk are The Riverside Church, Philharmonic Hall, Lincoln Center, and National Presbyterian Church.) The Aeolian-Skinner Legacy series is available from www.vermontorganacademy.com
Wonderful combination of music, organ and organist! Brilliant.
Thanks.

This was a great CD! I had a chance to fool around on the National Presb. AEolian Skinner...a great clear instrument! Probably one of the best of the post Harrison era.
