Playfish: Games on Social Networks (BB Video Games Interview Series)

Xeni Jardin interviews Sebastien de Halleux, founder of Playfish Games, a company that produces online games for social networks including Facebook, MySpace, and Bebo. One of their games is currently the top in popularity of all applications on Facebook, with some three million players per day.

Ultra-fans of that game, in which you care for a virtual pet, have developed a "hack" fan-culture which involves cultivating animal poop. If you are really good, you might earn a "rainbow poo" or a "golden poo."

We conducted this interview during the recent Game Developer Conference in San Francisco (http://www.gdconf.com/), and ran on a marathon streaming video webcast (http://ustream.tv/channel/boing-boing-live).
