Just Music. Renata Tebaldi sings "Sì, Mi Chiamano Mimì" from Giacomo Puccini's "La Bohème" with the Orchestra Dell'accademia Di Santa Cecilia Di Roma in this recording from the late 50s. Tullio Serafin is conducting.

  • I really LOVE her version! Really, really!

You must have either a hearing system that we, mortals, were not blessed with, or so vast and deep an encyclopedic musical culture that you climb to heights of perception denied to the mere music lover. Whatever the case, you would be doing great service to the common man by pointing out the irreparable faults of, say Gheorghiu, so that we may knowingly avoid the pitfall of falling in love with her beautiful voice. Teach us, please!

  • What's wrong with them is that they cannot sing. Would you like to hear more?

  • I quite agree with the first half of your statement, but take strong exception at your despising Gheorghiu, or Fleming, for that matter. May I kindly ask what is wrong with them...or with you?

  • potrobsas, you should remain silent period.

  • dugbin: Do you know what a beautiful vibrato is ?If you are a Callas fan you should remain silent about her vibrato and her high notes because are harrowing, very bad

  • Her vibrato sounds heavy... I prefer Callas' version of this aria... Callas vibrato sounds more natural.

  • Let me be frank... when I first Tebaldi's Mimi, I thought it was the best, but, after I began to understand the text, story, etc. a little better, whenever I hear Tebaldi sing Mimi, I can't be convinced that she's a nice, unambitious 20-year-old girl. Quite honestly, I prefer de los Angeles's, Freni's, and Callas's (for her supreme analytical interpretation).

  • It sounds so easy, that is why it is so great.

Rich and powerful voice with a beautiful tone, poise,

and perfect diction as usual. (also so feminine)

  • You're 24 and you heard Tebaldi in the theatre?? Not possible.
