@ceconk123 No. Both G.E. and R.R. carefully avoid anything supersonic in these engines because it immediately lowers seriously the efficiency (except in the combustion chambers which have no contact with the outside air). The tips of the large fan are nearly transonic. However, huge quantities of air are engulfed at large speeds which causes a drop of pressure in the intake, causing a temperature drop. On damp days, this is enough to cause condensation, which is clearly visible at 3:22.
