This is my tank, 1/3 of the way done, i'm leaning towards African cichlids, but i still have 2 weeks until i can fill it with water and than like another 3 weeks until i can actually get the fish, than i have to quarantine the fish and i can only get 2-3 at a time, so it wont be for like another 2 months until fully setup.

This tank is a bit over 55g, like 57g, but theres a lot of rock in there, each filter holds 1 gallon each so it's about a 49-50g tank with gravel and decor.

The filtration is 2 aquaclear 110's, 500GPH each, that's horse power.
Heating is a 200 WATT visi-therm stealth heater
I am going to get a powerhead and hide it behind the rocks to keep the water moving.

I want to get:
demasoni
Labidochromis
Pseudotropheus
Nimbochromis
Synodontis
Plecos

Might scratch the plecos. I got the tank off craigslist for 325 flat, with all the stuff pictured ( not the black rocks and flower-pots ) including:
Lava rock
Gravel ( not using it )
2 Very powerful aquaclears
a heater
net
buffers
water conditioner
driftwood
Stand
and some other stuff

Sorry if you hear my sister in the background watching america's next top model :S

  • Nice setup.

  • thanks bud, soon to be growout tank, with the money i will buy a 240g oscar/oddball tank

  • Very nice tank :D , it looks quite good for fry because theres lots of cover :), stuf to hide in and under etc

  • its gonna be a growout tank, for pbass, red tails and such, only a growout than in a few years will upgrade to a 300g and keep datnoids, arowanas, freshwater rays and so on

  • looks like you're gonna have enough filtration. Cool rocks, are some of those basalt? Well anyways I gotta get back to video production, I'm working on more videos roight now, good day to ya.

  • I am changing the rocks, to something called cichlid rocks, much more practical for african cichlids. Yeah filtration on this tank is crazy powerful. They are basalt, and they are heavy and they displace $#!+ loads of water, so i am getting hollow cichlid rocks

  • Comment people!

  • Sorry dude im hooked, i thought about fish like convicts, severums, ropefish, and a bunch of other fish but africans are so cool to watch and they breed like crazy and you can get a lot of money off of the babies and if any of your fish die you can replace the deceased with babies and with oscars and gts you can't really go crazy decorating, with africans hiding place is what matters, not the size tank. also, i know you have africans, but they are awesome when feeding. im gonna try africans out

  • yea dude thats coolbut i really think you should go south americans they do alot more and are more fun to feed haha its your choice tho... but cool tank
