i remember hearing/reading that too somewhere.

She didn't exactly lie to him, she really thought she was pregnant. And when she knew she wasn't she did try to tell him, but it was difficult, each time she tried to tell him she was afraid to hurt and disapoint him. When she did decide she would tell him now no matter what, he was gone for a few days for his work, so again no chance. In my opinion she has a right to be angry because his accusations towards her were false.
But I do understand him as well. It did seem a bit suspicious.
