A bit of crazy stuff from the architect of the tapping technique, Steve Hackett.
Taken from the tunes "Slogans" and "Shadow of the Hierophant" (1975).

  • "Pa habernos matao"...Yo hubiera quedado con los dedos enredados...

    ;-)

  • @Bflat

jejeje, enredados no sé pero quizás un poco dormidos sí que estaban los míos :P

    Un abrazo Berni.

  • nicely done. the tapping was expert, but the speed picking parts are really remarkable as well. i hope the online genesis collab guys get around to doing Shadow of the H and bringing you in to do the guitar parts.

  • @troubleclef

I really appreciate it. As a matter of fact I just finished collaborating with another member of iGenesis on a Hackett piece from the 70's. It's going to be available soon and I'm sure you'll like it.

  • Great job! Is that a custom guitar, homemade? BTW: Shadow is my favourite solo Hackett song.

  • @paperpichu

    No, it's a Parker P-42. I love Shadow too.

  • Awesome stuff! Shadows is still one of my favorite Hackett pieces. I wish he'd come to Israel sometime...

  • I always find it a slight shock when something like this reminds me of what a technically accomplished player SH is because it tend to think of him in terms of developing melodic lines and the single gorgeously bent note. In fact it was watching the many youtube attempts at Horizons which brought it home to me that not many people can pull of what he does.

    Also, nicely done dude.

  • @troubleclef Hihi, I didn't expect to see you here, mighty youtube Guru for autodidacts like myself. Your rendition of django's improv nr. 2 is still fresh after a couple of hundred plays, and is also a great reference for learning it. Thank you. Good to see two gurus of mine shooting the shift. :)

  • More Hogweed style!
