the following reg season...1982 chargers 50 bengals 34, the following week in SF chargers 41 49ers 37. i understand the bengals stomped the chargers during the 1981 regular season but the point is football is week to week, and game to game- and if the game played on jan 10, 1982 had been played in conditions that were 'fair' to both teams the chargers could have outscored the bengals, their offense was on fire at that point, but the bengals had a great defense that season and deserve the win.

@bdog1323 *Chargers

@bdog1323 The Bengals destroyed the Charges in San Diego during the regular season.

the chargers also destroyed the bengals the following season in san diego! and the 49ers. the -9 degrees and -59 below wind chill obviously effected Dan Fouts and the chargers. The chargers were firing on all cylinders offensively before mother nature robbed them of a possible super bowl appearance. Its also a shame air coryell had a crap defense that year, had this game been played in sd who knows who woulda won..bengals had a huge advantage being a cold weather team, the chargers had no chance

As a lifelong Dolfan, I always wondered what would've happened to miami in this game. Anyway, how come the bengals never get credit for the good team they had that year? If not for a botched goal line set of downs on offenes in the super bowl they could've been champs in '81. Also, didn't the bengals beat the chargers in san diego that same year? just wondering. bdog

What pisses me off about this game is that you hear people over the years saying "the weather beat the Chargers" and that if it had been warmer, the Chargers would have won. Well, during the season, the Bengals played the Chargers in the warmth of San Diego, and the Bengals blew them out. Also, Dan Fouts is in the hall-of-fame, but Ken Anderson is not. Taking nothing away from Fouts, but Anderson was BETTER! From a bitter Bengals fan.

I was 8 at the time, it was -27 for the air temperature in Northern WI at kickoff. The NFC championship broke my heart. Goddamned Joe Montana.

I was 11 years old at the time and I remember this. It was BRUTAL.
