Good question. Answer: I cheated. I pulled back the camera POV high above the galaxy's plane. Then, making sure there wasn't anything in the background, I HELD DOWN THE ARROW KEY for the duration of my video recording to spin the camera's POV and create the ILLUSION that the galaxy was rotating.
To make differential rotation, I overlaid two versions of the same video clip with appropriate opacities, and played back the smaller inner clip at double speed.

All spiral galaxies do. It just depends on whether you're looking at it from above, or below.
