very good fencing. Good techniq. But I have to say to those people who will look at it that this is not a classical fencing. This is a pure modern sport fencing with running, flashes, both touches. Even if there are small swords in your hands.
Classical fencing and fencing with small sword are the very different with the modern sport fencing. Plese take it into account for right understanding of terminology and different styles.
The great French writer of the time Moliere brilliantly defined the essence of Fencing: "Fencing is the art of attacking, not getting them in return. The need to touch the enemy, avoiding his punches, makes the art of fencing is extremely complex and difficult, because the eye that sees and warns of reason, which discusses and decides to hand, which does need to add accuracy and speed in order to provide adequate living weapons "
@jbujko Your right, off hand is applicable for stage combat, reenactments, and sword and dagger fighting such as SCA stuff but NOT modern classical fencing. You can ask any real fencing instructor with real credentials this and he/she will tell you the same. My apologies if your intention was to teach any of the previously mentioned activities, but even so where is your students off hand glove so he/she can perform the same maneuvers?
Perhaps I am mistaken but USFA is a sport, not classical, fencing association. The purpose of classical fencing is, as a matter of fact, to fence "like on an old Zorro movie". Perhaps You could back up Your words with some videos of You fencing?
@jbujko There is a little organization called the USFA that has nice set of rules that are applicable for classical fencing that EVERYONE has been using for the last few of decades. Where did you learn to fence? From an old Zorro film or something? And as far as where I would have your fingers, I would have them in a glass pickle jar along with all my other claimed appendages... you thought you were creeped out before...
Wel,l using ones' off-hand is against the FIE rules but is not against classical fencing rules. Mostly because a set of classical fencing rules does not exist. I don't know where would you like to have my fingers but the thought creeps me out..
To the man in black, (maestro? I think not.) If you tried to use your off hand to swat at me like that I'd have your fingers. That is way against the rules whether your fencing electrically or classically.
Fun video. If I may give some unsolicited advice to the fencer in white: try to work on being more stable when you lunge. Try to keep your back leg and foot from sliding and don't roll your ankle. This should give you a more stable position to defend yourself from your opponent's riposte. My second piece of advice would be to try riposting low after parrying 6th (Italian 3rd) On each of your ripostes you go high and get a huge counterparry out of your opponent. See if riposting low helps.
