  • I just finished restoring a 1986 ninja 900 and just got it registered with antique tags. I received it for free from a neighbor 2 years ago and now it looks and runs almost new, now has new silver paint on tank and side pieces, black on front fairing and engine.

  • @Stangwlf Yea I love the old bikes. I also have an 86 ninja1000. I am planning on black with red stripe.

  • the fun is in the fixing

  • I recently acquired a barn project 1985 ZX600. Mice had a nice meal on the wiring and some of the plastic, but not as bad as original owner made it out. I have it, rewired, repainted, and runs great. Only thing; it will only run when fuel is squirted from a bottle and not the carbs. The carbs have been reworked with new kits and ran on another bike for testing. What is the problem I am facing or overlooking? The vacuum lines are hooked to the switch, but not the petcock, as the tank is removed.

  • I think I added a video response....but go to my profile, and it is the only video I have uploaded. Any help with this stuff would greatly be appreciated.

  • Yeah, I got it put together, but I got a new battery, and when I turn the key.. Nothing. I know the battery is good. I got current to the end of the pos cable where it bolts onto that capacitor? or relay thing with the negative terminal. Both pos and neg wires connect to it. But I don't have current coming out of the 2 wire flat plug coming out. Am I supposed to have current there? And when the clutch is squeezed, shouldn't the trans. spin freely? I almost got it done.

  • @exkuisiteone Is yours an 86? The (computer) mounts on the left side under the side cover by the seat lock.
