'All over the World', by Nairobi Yetu HipHop Collective feat. Rha Goddess is the first international single release from the 'Kilio cha Haki' album recorded by the Nairobi YETU HipHop collective. The film shoot of the single 'All over the World' is the first ever international MusicVideo production in Kenya and for Kenyan artists.
NAIROBI YETU HOPHOP COLLECTIVE
NAIROBI YETU are a thirty-eight strong collective of rappers and musicians from four different slums in Nairobi's notorious Eastlands ghetto. In a major collaborative effort they've joined forces with producers from Amsterdam's DJ/Producer set Rednose Distrikt to record their debut album 'KILIO CHA HAKI (A Cry for Justice)'. The positive message and head-nod kicks of 'Kilio...' call to mind acts like Saian Supa Crew, Arrested Development, A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde.
DUTCH NGO UPTOYOUTOO PROVIDED MOBILE STUDIO
'Kilio...' was recorded in a mobile studio, brought to Nairobi by Dutch NGO UpToYouToo, and was meant to help the rappers uplift and expose their enormous talent which was hidden in the ghettos. Recording this CD enabled them to spread a social message concerning their situation of poverty and backdrop. The NAIROBI YETU are the representation of the positive action and energy from within the ghettos.
BIGGEST HIPHOP PROJECT OF EASTERN AFRICA
This album is named the biggest HipHop project of Eastern Africa, and their first international single All over the World played in high rotation at MTV BASE AFRICA. With the enormous success of the single and the album in Africa, but also across Europe, the NAIROBI YETU have proven themselves in the international HipHop-scene.
