Human rights watchdog Amnesty International (AI) has made a scathing criticism of the J&K government for using the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) for over two decades in Kashmir. In a press conference on the 21st of March, AI's two member team in Srinagar called on authorities to scrap the law that allows detention without trial for up to two years saying it violates India's international commitments to human rights. Amnesty accuses the state police and troops of following "monthly targets" for detentions.
