Italy's EU race has been made racier by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's latest antics, considered by some to have placed aesthetics over politics. He has been accused by both his estranged wife and the speaker of parliament -- a member of his own party -- of fronting a string of attractive young women with little political experience, including a former Miss Italy contestant, as candidates for his centre-right party.
The so-called "political scientist" is an opposition candidate. So who is against Berlusconi is automatically a scientist (at least)?

Turnout has been falling in the 30 yrs. since the first EU election, so Silvio is hoping that his base will come out and vote his picks into the EU par.
