My 2000 Ranger being started up after a 2nd treatment of SeaFoam through a vacuum line to help with the carbon buildup. After this, revving the engine to about 3000 RPM let it belch out white smoke for another minute. Then a quick drive manually shifting the auto to hold the RPM's higher to help it burn more carbon off.
Next is to check the plugs and change the oil after driving it around for a day.
