In the event of a collapse and a total failure of government to protect the citizens, what can be done to organize the community, make decisions and make some kind of order out of the chaos? Any ideas?

  • Are we talking about an Autonomous collective or just some kind of fuedal state?

  • Zguitar1

We've already got what amounts to a feudal state. I was hoping for something that represents the citizens for a change. I

  • You got a haircut! :) Looks sharp! Hey, here is an interesting take on what it could be like in the very near future. :)

LOL, ya I saw that one before.

First rule in survival. Never marry a woman who won't let you prepare.

Second is food and water. He had that hot tub for water and had food so he did ok there.

Third is, leave the woman if her stubbornness and ignorance are going to cost you your life.

    4th is guns and ammo.

5th is never run a generator (especially at night).

6th is leave your home if anyone knows how well you're prepared, & get out of the city.

BTW, thanks. Yes its a new haircut

  • Great rules! I agree with all 6 and then some! you and your family's lives are not worth the stubbornness of a ill-tempered or untrusting wife. Thinking on what you said, how glad I am we got the powerpacks instead of having to use our gas generator. It's LOUD. Also, we're thinking after we get a few solar panels to keep the powerpacks charged, we might get a pedal generator, in case we have to stay indoors for some time. You know, still get exercise, and keep the energy rolling.

The pedal generator is a good idea. I could mount my Bionx electric bike to my stationary bike adapter, and hook the 36 volt battery up to 3 12 volt car batteries (in series) to charge them. Then I could wire them back to 12 volts when I wanted to run an inverter and turn it into house current. I have 3 different inverters I could use.

I cold use 3 position switches to make the changeover take about 3 seconds.

  • I'm stocked up and ready. I don't want any part of a community. Right now, all my neighbors shit doesn't stink, I am sure they will be friendly when they are hungary. Like I say and I tell my wife, Were not gonna have any part of that. I will go out and barter for what I need and watch my own family and back.

  • For godsakes DO NOT LET OBAMA SIGN THE FUCKING TREATY, IF HE DOES, THAT'S GOING TO BURN THE REST OF OUR CONSTITUTION, OUR PROSPERITY AND THERE WONT BE ANOTHER ELECTION. GET READY FOR WAR ON ARMMAGEDON, I'M NOT JOKING, I USUALLY DON'T SCREAM WITH CAP LOCKS ON BUT THIS IS IT FOLKS, THE END IS NEAR.

  • this refers to the bicycle powered generator.

  • I hope you are going to post a "how to" vid or series with a list of supplies.

I liked the book but the movie wasn't nearly as good. You're right about the governments thing. One problem is that some of the governments will be totalitarian in nature and will probably spend their efforts in raiding (like the Holinists in the movie). Lets hope things don't degenerate that far.
