Here is ANOTHER oddity I have found whilst clearing out my old archives. I couldn't bring myself to bin it without posting it for the entertainment of the other Mouldy Figs (as the 'modern' jazz fans called us in London in the 50's) who are still out there.
The Georgia Jazz Band was a very short-lived ensemble (I wonder why?). This posting is very much a nostalgia trip for me because, amateur as it is, it is quite possibly unique -as it includes the late, great, Bill Brunskill playing cornet.
The usual apologies for quality apply, and I am sorry that there is nothing to watch!!

  • Thanks for you email. I have managed to get hold of a CD copy of "tears in your eyes", from Bill's daughter, Sue. She was over here last year from Australia, we all met up and had a trip down memory lane, how The Napier has changed now.

Some people call it progress but I have a special word for it.

  • Bill's pianist in the early 80s (and quite a lot longer too) was Hugh Crozier. I also have a copy of Tears in Your Eyes etc.

  • this is great! it's too bad that they did not stay together as a band for very long.

  • Thanks so much for this

  • I used to see them at The Lord Napier most Sundays in the early 80's and am trying to remember the name of the pianist he had then. Can anyone help. He had longish fair hair and was quite large.

  • I have been a great fan of Bill Brunskill and have a couple of lp's but i hoped someone would post up some video,I saw the band live a few times and remember them using that phrase in a jokey way to introduce a tune [i dont remember what the tune was1} but i did not know it was the title of an LP,does anyone have any video of the band,i do remember that he allways had good sidemen

Les Hanscombe& Kid Tidiman, etc etcI would love to see some of those people in action again.

  • I am after an album called: "tears in your eyes as big as buckets." if you can help it's really appreciated
