The rubbish dumped at the transfer station is grabbed by a digger and placed in the compactor. The bin on the end of the compactor is then taken to the landfill for emptying. In some cases rubbish is sorted to remove cardboard and metals.
The compactor featured is much slower then the usual one you would see at the transfer station. This compactor would be more suited to a large complex such as a hospital or mall.
To keep the smell down, odorizers are sprayed around every 40 minutes or when a truck arrives. For real bad smells, lime is used to naturalize it. The only thing you have to worry about is the flys.
In this particular transfer station, rubbish cannot be left on the floor at the end of the day.
Thank you to "Kiwigarbo" for letting me film at the transfer station.
There's no way that little ram would be able to keep up with quick loading... you'd dump 8-10 times and it would be overflowing lol I like the powerful whine of the motor when he turns the loader off for that short time... the voltage running through it must be insane! The blade at the local transfer station is enormous compared to this one, you should see the gulps that one takes, but it is sitting in the bottom of a large pit. Awesome footage! I'd kill to visit a transfer station nearby!
