It might be the analog board, try resoldering the connections, they break over time

I would have liked to live the time of the Macs. Currently I have an iMac (1999 iMac, according with the info from inside the computer) running MacOS 8 (or 8.5, I don't remember). I do not use it because almost no programs installed, and here in Mexico is very difficult to get software for Mac, even for MacOS 10. This iMac has an Ethernet port, but I think it not works because I plug the cable and no lights on. And I didn't found a place in the system to give me information about the connection.
Hmm... If it worked fine first, without a PRAM battery, I would think it would be able to boot again without a battery. But it could be.
First turn it on and try leaving it for a couple of minutes, and see if it suddenly springs to life. If no dice, try removing and reinserting any RAM and ROM sticks and any expansion cards, as well as the mouse, keyboard, floppy, and SCSI connections. If no luck yet, try a new PRAM battery. At the worst, it means failed capacitors on the motherboard.

@CPQ5360 I haven't had time to look at it... It never had a PRAM battery in it since I got the thing, so I really doubt it's that. It's been sitting in my parent's damp basement for maybe 5 years so it could have a loose or corroded connection. Why it worked to begin with and not the second try I dunno :P
