EU Calls For 'New World Governance'

This all sounds positive, why the scary music.
Surely a global union is a brilliant thing.
Don't forget mans desire for freedom, we will be fine.

A New World Order! Amen to that! we really need one sooner or later. the world is a mad house. enough with the wars and the inequalities and injustices!
and yes I know the troofers have misused this term and when Bush sais it, it sounds creepy. but I embrace the term and so must every rational person. Humanity was close to annihilating every being on this planet some decades ago. A New World Order is what we need!

Look at the Soviet Union and what occurred under the hegemony there.
If the government were to begin an oppressive regime beyond what is tolerated by the populous, or govern in a wanton and self-promoting and reckless way there would be no accountability to another state, party or region nor would there be any external opposition force.

Also, you must define the term freedom in the sense you stipulate.

If you consider one coteries right/legislative ability to enslave another a form of freedom then what is the freedom of the enslaved? To be enslaved?
Furthermore, that form of freedom was not retained, but rather transformed into another form of freedom in which everyone is free from slavery and no one has to freedom to enslave another.

exactly, finally someone sensible. we can then do something useful like exploring space or something.

thats what i was thinking..
if the world is unified, we will be one people..no more rascism, wars, or other nonsense, and we can finally focus our attention away from making weapons and into discovering new medicines for caner, aids, mad cow diesease, and other incurable diseases..
we would also explore space and learn new things..i guess diversity will stop, but id be willing to take that for peace among humans, cooperation, and understanding

all the things are good and all but what happens when the handfuls of leaders abuse their power and make the majority of people slaves with no say in anything what so ever. If they see space exploration as a "Non-profit" for them, they will not fund it. If there are no other governments to help counter and oppose, then it will basically lead to another Nazi germany on a world wide scale.
