06/24/12 microburst or small tornado Tropical Storm Debby nighttime squall m 20" OF RAIN East Tampa

9:45 pm we lost electrical power as a radar indicated tornado was a few miles southeast of our location 9:50 pm the storm hit and was gone within 3 minutes. Neighborhood completely dark. Best video I could do under the circumstances. Tree was 25 years old and had survived 70mph winds from previous tropical storms. The big difference is the flooded soil.

Which camera did you take out there in the elements to use?

Casio exf1, poor for low light but the only chip based camera I had. I had the Canon XHA1 ready but the high humidity makes it worthless this time of year. It only works on sunny days, no AM or late nights.

Your tornados really suck there. We were getting EF0s all day so I was a little too brave with it. Anything close to the stuff you guys get and I would have been in our storm shelter, can't really go below ground here, water table at 1 ft right now:-) Stay safe and I hope you have a tornado free future unless you are a storm chaser:-)

I might use a few limbs, the county public works crew cleaned all the mess up today. They did a SUPER AMAZING job. It would have taken me days to remove all that stuff from the ditch. They did it in under one hour.

Those night time tornado's are pretty scary. I live in Russell Kansas and we had one within 2 miles of my place last year after dark, power out and no tornado sirens. Hoisington Kansas and Greensburg aren't too far away. Scary scary scary
