Sheila Dixon--a Soon-To-Be Mayor of Baltimore City

Sheila Dixon will become on Jan. 17, 2007, the first female Mayor of the City of Balitmore. She pesently holds the office of the President of the Baltimore City Council. Ms. Dixon was speaking at the annual parade in the city which honors the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. She has held an elective office for the last 20 years.

I am not concerned about the making of history as the first black or African American female Major in Baltimore City. What I am more concerned about what she can do for Baltimore and is she the best candidate for the job as Major? Gender or race is not important, the merit of the individual should remain as the key NOT the first this or that.
