@Oallos1 You forget that every single muslim populated region was colonized and ruled over by non-muslims only until a few years ago. As for what caused it, you can refer to "Neil tyson al ghazali" and note a black mark against the western love for sufism.

Islam has nothing to do with the lack of freedom in Muslim countries. actually those countries are governed by secular dictators largely funded by your "free and democratic" government. plus those doctors are Americans and they wanna help within the us.
I imagine that freedom of religion and speech are quite important for you. so what do u do yourself to help to reach that in Muslim countries? unless you think that it's none of your business because you're not a Muslim.

Yes this is good. But how about a focus from the muslim diaspora on human rights such as freedom of religion and freedom of speech IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES. I cannot think of a single muslim country where people have these fundamental rights. If Islamic countries ever accomplish these basic freedoms, then the name of Islam might be elevated. The muslim diaspora must raise their voice to effect change. As for now, the name of Islam is anything but high.

The UMMA clinic may be meeting needs in LA, but its more than a stretch to attribute beauty and peaceful thinking to the qur'an or Islam as a whole based on this single contribution. I can quote for you if you insist. In any case, I encourage muslims to be as motivated to effect change in muslim countries when it comes to human rights, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, where change is desperately needed.
