I can't wait to get this recording!!!!!! I own the Mei/Kasarova, Sills/Baker, and Ricciarelli/Montague sets, but I think the Netrebko/Garanca combination is going to be the best!!! Netrebko's voice sounds so velvety and plush, while Garanca sounds so rich, full and ardent.
I'd go so far as to say, this is Netrebko's best recording contribution to opera!

@teleblanx Anna Moffo was also very beautiful.

Thats the thing...I HAVE listened to other recordings of her, and they have all left me wanting more, especially her attempts in the bel canto rep.

Certified Intergalactic! Definitely worth listening and watching.

Not quite, her Lucia is not good, her Sonnambula is somewhat sloppy. She is good as Mimi, Violetta and the Russian roles. There have been far more versatile singers, such as Montserrat Caballe and Maria Callas. The thing is, usually in bel canto her coloratura is sloppy, specially in later years.
Is this from a cd or live performance?

I agree it was stronger, especially the young Sutherland. But, Dame Joan's lower register got stronger later. There is a posted video of her Lucrezia Borgia here on Youtube. An Australian performance in1977 I believe. Not the Covent Garden performance in 1980. Listen to her low Bb in "Era desso il figlio mio". You might be surprised.

I've listened to her "Norma", and her Anna Bolena. Her low register was never strong, it was very much like Gruberova's.
