Bad example of a good subject - it's just that people are instructed to do things out of their homes all the time ... we just follow instructions - there wasn't anyone to ask why - so people just followed the signs ... a bit like keep left/right etc ...

I would add an experiment in which I hang two signs of women only!! and then record what would happen-it would be a way better experiment
By the way it must be also related to cultural diffrences here in Israel is likely that the results would have been different because of the tendency not to follow rules

yep, "gender role" as per my sociology textbook would mean more like barbells and a vacuum. although this pretty accurately shows that people have too much on their minds to see life for what it is.
