Is redirecting a large number of domains suspicious?

Google helps a lot. It makes surfing and searching a lot easier.

I hate Google they treat us like dogs. Now if your a huge company domain names they treat them different .

You mentioned typos and related domains, but I know some companies which just registered a lot of domains "back in the day" that are non-related and redirect them to their website just to get some traffic of it (or branding or w/e) this wouldnt hurt either?

Thanks, I'm redirecting more than 10 to 1.

Presuming you keep the content at the destination the same, this is not a problem.
This is often done when you merge blogs. I've done this for a two sites and couple hundred sites only to have the page rank of the final site increase because the newly consolidated site has improved content and visitation than the stand alone sites.
NOTE: Google IMAGES does not catch up as quickly as the search does. You may see a decrease in this traffic for up to two weeks.

What about a news site where content is deleted after 4 weeks (for legal reasons).
Is it ok to 301 to a similar active page or landing page?

Very cool, I have been scared to do this with my branded domains.

Thank you, Matt
How about collapsing 1000 franchise localised sites into one corporate site via 301?
Or other way around, exploding 1000 microsites from a main site to individualised location, whould that get frowned upon?

What if someone is forwarding domain names that have natural type in traffic for the purposes of increasing traffic to your website?
Since you don't mention this it makes me concerned that you might consider that a bad practice?
