@Kizzy1882 Well said!!!!

@sweetmicco yur wrong, carnival was braught her by the europeans and made better with the traditions of africans and native americans. it was celebrated by latin countries like brazil, haiti, trinidad(used to be spanish territory), new orleanse (mardi gras), and panama...but with the soca and samba fever other countries are doing it
-
and not only is it a west indian day parade..it is a brooklyn day parade..just an african american girl who grew up in brooklyn going to labor day parade for years now who loves to soca........and celebrate all the black cultures that originate from africa or india anyway and still from africa too....and the french africans slaves started carnival anyway ...study your history
-
that was not destra
-
what if Columbus didn't make that mistake. would he just call us black people. I mean u are called west indians over some fucked up mistake made. I'm african-american so that don't affect me
-
WOW!!! ignorance is bliss. Haiti is part of the greater Antilles along with Cuba, Jamaica, Bahamas, Puerto Rico and any island on that side. The lesser Antilles are on the other side or Leeward islands. We are called West Indian because Columbus thought he was in India...so to distinguish us we are West Indians and people from India are East Indian... Please inform yourself... Technically speaking - everyone from the Caribbean is West Indian because Columbus made the mistake.

yes lucian pride!!!
We don't need to justify our culture to anyone. Carnival is about love, dancing and drinking - if they can't apprecaite we culture, to hell with them.

I disagree with that comment by TubeDoll completely. I'm a Trinidadian, and as much as I love Trini Carnival and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, Labor Day is a WEST INDIAN DAY PARADE, not a TRINIDADIAN PARADE, or a HAITIAN PARADE, or a JAMAICAN PARADE, or even a BARBADIAN PARADE - it's for all of us, so they have just as much of a right to be there as we do.
