@SenorCojonazos Im sorry to hear that your great uncle died
-
@ShoutenDadi British died there also - including my great-Uncle. In addition many of the ANZACS fighting there were British born or of British descent.

I miss heroes.....

Being that there were no "bunker buster" bombs in the U.S. arsenal in 1944, you have to wonder that even if the German bunkers took direct hits from dumb bombs before the landings would that have had any affect on those bunkers.

A relative of mine was killed at Omaha after the fighting ended - he stood on a mine whilst aiding someone who was wounded.

There were ~4,700 USA casualties (+ a few Brit. landing craft crew) casualties at Omaha, not 2,400. Read Joseph Balkowski's 'Omaha Beach, D-day, June 6, 1944', he uses updated & more completely compiled casualty records. 1st & 29th US Inf. Divs., + Rangers, Engineers, AAA troops, Seabees, etc. landed there. About 50 tanks were sunk or knocked out.
