October 27th, 1979: QPR vs Burnley 7-0 (Goddard 2, Allen 2 (1 pen.), Shanks, McCreery, Roeder.
Burnley goalkeeper Billy O'Rourke had a nightmare in his debut, but was actually picked as man of the match after this division 2 game. Tommy Docherty's QPR could so easily have scored ten or even twelve goals in this match, judging by the newspaper reports.

  • I was at this match as well & must admit have forgotten the player Wallace, can anyone remind me where he came from?

  • He came through the junior ranks, and made his debut in our home game vs WBA on oct 29th 1977. He was later transferred to Tulsa Roughnecks.

  • ok thanks, he rang a faint bell but only vaguely. I think soon after the Burnley game Rangers were four up v Oldham and ended up winning 4 - 3, Stainrod played for them and we signed him soon afterwards.

  • We did beat Oldham 4-3 this season. However, Simon Stainrod signed for us the following season. We beat Oldham 2-0 on november 15th. Four days later Stainrod signed for us, and made his debut in the following away game at Preston. The strange thing is, he got the no. 10 shirt in that game, played in it for three matches. Then he had to give it up for Tony Currie for the rest of the season.

  • You're right hotox, its from the 3-1 win at stamford bridge. Just wait for it it..:)

  • Great to find this. I got Barry Davies to sign my new QPR cap after the match -the first I ever went to just with my mates and no grown up (aged 11). 7-0... and it was shown on Match of the Day, too! Bliss.

  • Wow..the keeper had a howler...but he was only at fault for the first goal
