being lenape from copan oklahoma, i dont get this videos attempt to fool people into believing that these people or even songs are lenape in any way, shape or form. i'm actually shocked and ashamed to see my own culture shown as a joke on youtube.

I am, Ramapough Lenape, a tribe that is from the Lenape as the name implies, my mom moved from new york to california so theres not much I know about my people although ive gotten in contact recently, I know some people are skeptical of the Ramapoughs, including other Lenapes, I hope we can all learn to accept our brothers and sisters, and hopefully even the less fortunate like me who dont know much about my beautiful tribe.

I am shocked that one brother would look at another and say you are not a brother. Our people were split up and either moved west and south or killed. I may be mixed but my spirit guide keeps me grounded with our Mother. And I am thankful that there are great brothers that are willing to show people a little tradition of what they were taught. I beg of you to reconnect with your peaceful energy and think of ways you can help your brother and not destroy their taught heritage.

I agree that there are many phonies claiming to be Lenape on the east. But there are some that really are strong Lenape decent. The Pennsylvania Dutch supported and hid them from the fear of removal. We grew up being told not to tell anyone. But we know our history and our ways. We do not dress and act like this, nor do we sing songs like this. Sadly because of people like this the real Lenape can not find acceptance from our other relatives. Sadly I don’t blame them, I am ashamed as well.

I'm Jewish too, but I don't buy into Mormonism or the ten-lost-tribes stuff. As far as I read, Jews originated in the Levant and spread throughout the Mediterranean world and then on into Europe. America became a major home for Jews after the USA was founded and most of the Lenape apparently left the NY/NJ/PA area.

I'm Hungarian, Russian, Ukrainian, perhaps Polish, Jewish, and was born American in New York City. So how did I get interested in Lenape? well, I live in NJ, and am a history maven... so here I am :)
