Big Thanks for this vid. I studied and was a Full Preterist for about 3 years but after reading NT Wright aI couldn't believe the resurrection happened already as being only as SPIRITUAL bodies. Couldn't let go of MT34 as 70 AD either and thought there has to be something in between somehow. I'll rethink this. Thanks again.

So Vince believes Matthew 16:27 is continuously fulfilled, up to the final judgment; but that Matthew 16:28 happened at the ascension? Vince also believes Matthew 24:30 has happened (Jesus came on the clouds) but that wasn't the 2nd coming? I better not watch it again, I'm getting more confused with each view.

Vince asserts after physical death, the righteous go to #1) Abraham's Bosom. #2) Paradise. #3) Heaven. Which is it? All the (reprobates) that have physically died are still being tortured according to Vince & the WCF? Vince looks for a singular LAST/FINAL judgment? Doesn't Isaiah 9:7 say the kingdom oncreases forever? Doesn't Revelation 14:6 mention an everlasting gospel to be preached to those on the earth? Matthew 24:30 has happened, but Jesus is coming again?
-
Vince assures his audience that his response conforms to the WCF? So much for Sola Scriptura. 1st response is to the generalization issue. Vince asserts "The Full Preterist Position" as if all Full Preterists are in unison on the issues he is putting forth on Matthew 16:27-28 Vince then boxes all Full Preterists in again by saying THEY ALL say. So Christ came in to his kingdom at the ascension, but every man being rewarded is an on-going action?

The best book on this subject in my opinion is a book by Ridderbos called The coming Kingdom. It is very technical but systematized so that although it goes deep, it is in fact easy enough to follow as long as you read in the order of the book. It is a book I recommend for people who want to understand the kingdom referred to in Matthew 16:27-28

Yes, I would love to see the exegesis of the text.

Have you considered Historicism? It was the view of ALL our Reformers prior to the 1850s. Even Matthew Henry was more Historicist than Preterist, even though he had some Preterist "elements". The Jesuits created both Futurism and Preterism to get the heat off the Papacy as the identity of Antichrist. Historicism recognizes the continuous fulfillment of prophecy all throughout history without any gaps. The Jesuits Luis de Alcazar concocted Preterism, and Francisco Ribera - Futurism.

@Lysimachus78 I consider myself a historicist, maybe not in the classical sense, especially with respect to some prophecies. Grace to you.

This is not scriptural. The verses Vince cites (Matthew 16:27-28) state that when Christ came in his kingdom, then EVERY MAN would be rewarded, not grandually over a period of 2,000 years and counting.
Eschatology101 1 year ago
@Eschatology101 No sir. The verb of that clause is modified by the conjunction "and" & the adverb "then" which precede it. The verb is in the future tense. So when the first clause of the verse is fulfilled, then the manifestation of events dependent on it would then begin to become realized. Whether the events to be realized take time in history is not central to the text, especially if it does not refer to historical events in time.See my exegesis sometime.

Hey Vincent,
Regarding matt 16:27,28. In verse 27-- The Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels seems to be the same as the Son of Man coming in His Kingdom in verse 28. I just don't see from the text Jesus speaking of two different events. These comings depict His power and majesty when he comes to judge his people. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see any biblical support for believing otherwise.

@spreform Thanks for your comments. Please don't get the impression I am reducing the text to two events. If you send me your e-mail, I can send you my exegesis of this text.
