Explanation Light pulse is separated by lenses/diffraction grating to make 2D rainbow. On striking object, info is encoded into the back-reflected 2D rainbow. The reflection is sent to a Fourier transformer which maps it into a 1D data stream and also amplifies the image. Amplified 1D serial data is detected by a single-pixel photodiode and digitized. The 2D image of the object is reconstructed by combining 1D & 2D info
Regular CCD clocks in @ 60 kilohertz This (called S.T.E.A.M) = 6 MEGAhertz
So I googled "Serial time-encoded amplified imaging blah blah blah" and read the article. Basically, this is a video demonstrating they invented a way to record events 1000 times faster than what can be recorded with even the best CCD imagers. They use it to film "shock waves, chemical dynamics in living cells, neural activity in realtime and microfluidics"
How easy was that. So yes, this is a video showing how the world's fastest camera works.
worlds lamest video? what does this animation have to do with the worlds fastest camera.. i'm not saying it doesn't cause it may somehow diagram a process but i sure as hell didn't get anything out of it
