I have met my friend Chris Breemer during my vacations in the Netherlands on 10.8.09. Chris Breemer is one of the site-administrators of pianosociety.com, where you can find all of his and myrecordings. Chris does really great achievements on pianosociety. He has not only recorded the complete Well Tempered Clavier, book 1 and 2, by Bach, and many other complete sets and singular recordings, he works actually also on a complete recording of Bartoks "Mikrokosmos". It was really nice to meet him and to record three of the famous Slavonic Dances by Antonin Dvorak: op. 46, no. 4, op. 72, no. 2 and no. 4. which I will upload all. We also have recorded the Sonata KV 497, f-major, for piano four hands, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which I will upload as soon as I will have edited our videos. We had only 2 days for recording and practising. On our first meeting on 29.7.09 I have forgotten to switch on the built-in microphones of my Zoom H4, so we decided to record all pieces again on 10.8.09. I didn´t take my Neumann Mikrophones with me during my vacations, so that the sound-quality is not so good as usual here on my channel and there also are some little slips. We would like to consider these recordings more as a vacation-pleasure than as very serious CD-recordings;)
BTW, we played on Chris´ nice old grand-piano by Gaveau. I like this old French brand, because these instruments still have a great individual character, I would like to say "personality".

  • this is absolutely beautiful, it makes me so sad that most people these days just don't appreciate classical music. i recently heard this played at a college of music, and it only increased my love for dvorak!! keep playing!

Without music life would be a big error! (It´s by Nietsche not by me, but I agree to that absolutely;)

  • @musicusblau What would we do without music!

  • @thrippleton

I have made similar experiments with other persons playing secondo or terzo on Haydns Symphony of Farewell and Rachmaninofs pieces for piano for six hands. Yeah, it´s great fun!

  • I have just recorded this exact same arrangement on my digital piano, playing both primo and secondo. Difficult to do but great fun.

Thank you. Yes, indeed, it was also a nice discovering for me, before I only knew the orchestra versions of the Slawonic Dances, which also are very beautiful.

  • wow! i really like this performance. i didn't even know there were four hand arrangements of the dances, this is a nice find =)
