Christophe de Margerie, Chairman and CEO of Total, gave a lecture on the challenges and opportunities of the new energy landscape on Tuesday, July 12th at the French Ambassador Residence. Under his leadership, Total engaged in the development of renewable energies (biomass, solar, etc.) and committed to make tremendous efforts towards improving transparency and governance in the oil and gas industry. He mentionned the most recent Total investment in the U.S., a $1.5 billion decision to buy a 60% stake in SunPower Corp., the California based photovoltaic company. He then answered questions from an audience made up of notable American leaders.
