Mayhem in Midtown: Pedicab vs. Taxi

A yellow taxi slams into two pedicabs in Midtown Manhattan.
The first pedicab was struck on West 44th street and 6th Ave.
The impact pushed the pedicab pushing it into a green construction truck.
The taxi, which had a female passenger in the back, then side-swipes an access-a-ride and a limo.
The taxi then keeps heading Northbound on 6th Avenue where it rams into a second pedicab on West 46th Street.
The collision sends the driver of the pedicab flying onto the taxi's windshield.
Instead of stopping the taxi keeps going with the guy on his windshield for three blocks and stops on West 49th Street.
Both drivers were taken to Bellevue hospital and are expected to survive.

Why is the taxi driver in a stretcher? In my area the cops would be too busy pummeling his ass and throwing the pulped leftovers in the back plastic seat of a cruiser heavily cuffed.
